An Simple And Sweet, Mouthwatering Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

(8 Servings)

What you need: 24 strawberries, 1 cup of dark chocolate, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Optional: Coconut shavings, chia seeds, peanuts, and greek yogurt.

Supplies: A small pot and medium pot (or a double broiler), a cookie sheet, and parchment paper.

  1. Fill up a medium sized pot ⅓ of the way with water and bring to a boil.
  2. While the water in your pot is heating up, wash your strawberries with cold water. Once clean, dry the fruit with a towel and place the strawberries to the side.
  3. Once at a boil, change the stove top to medium heat and place the smaller pot into the medium sized pot. Add the dark chocolate into the smaller pot, stirring continuously. If you do not stir the chocolate will not melt properly. This stirring process should take roughly 10 minutes.
  4. Once melted, take the small pot full of dark chocolate out of the boiling water and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and stir. The olive oil allows for the chocolate to apply more smoothly onto the strawberry.
  5. This is where you become creative! Now dip the strawberries into the melted dark chocolate and add any toppings of your choice. You can keep it simple with just chocolate but I recommend adding chia seeds on top for a little healthy kick!
    • Make sure to stir in between dipping strawberries so the chocolate doesn’t harden. If the chocolate accidentally hardens, place the small pot back into the medium pot with boiling water and stir. After a few minutes the dark chocolate will melt again.
  6. Once toppings are added place the chocolate covered strawberries on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper to harden. After all the strawberries have been dipped and placed on the parchment paper, put the cookie sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes to solidify.
  7. Take out the dark chocolate covered strawberries from the fridge, dip the strawberries into greek yogurt, and enjoy this simple and sweet treat!

This delicious treat is perfect for Valentines day and only contains 150 calories for every 3 chocolate covered strawberries. This sweet and simple snack contains 16 grams of carbohydrates, 9 grams of fat with 1.5 grams of monounsaturated fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, and loads of vitamin C!
